My first gaming PC, Is this any good?

Solution
The only thing I would change is get the h100i rather than h100 (newer version).

I would also stick with the 4670k as you don't need anything higher, and I would assume you are going to OC. The 780 out performs the R9 290, I would like to see where it doesn't (290 also has reference cooler, which is horrible, and runs supper hot.) Other than that, the MB is a little overkill, but that's up to you. If you wanted to, knock $100 off that and get the i7 4770k.

Wrong wrong wrong, the build is fine as it is. The GPU is more important than the CPU if he's only going to play games. If he's gonna render/edit that's a different story, and in that case the I recommend an i7.
Besides that, the R9-290 doesn't have an aftermarket cooler yet, and the cards with the stock cooler heat up like hell.
