Hi I need a mother board compatible

the CPU I have chosen is Intel Core i7 4930K

and i chose this mother board Asrock X79 EXTREME9 which I thought was okay but finding that the processor is ivy and mobo is sandy.

so are their any mother boards which are compataibale already.

or there is a thing I was researching bios flash but that would mean another cpu i would need.

please help.

You are fine as it is the same socket. You may need to update the BiOS but that is it.

yeah the sockets the same but I read that it wont even boot without correct cpu ?

It should boot, just need to update the BiOS to accomodate the Ivy. There is no seperate MOBO for the IVY, although I think Intel just released their last X79 Motherboard, which is since the IVY has come out, although I think that ASRock extreme 9 is a fairly recent release as well. Again, I see no reason it shouldn't boot and you can get your drivers installed, then update the BiOS to the latest.

Thanks for quick reply, I'm going to get that one, but is it good mobo. I'm building for a video edit rig.

ASRock is and has been a separate entity for a few years now, it IS NOT Asus nor is it any longer connected, it is owned by Pagatron, in fact their were rumors that Asus was trying to reacquire ASRock
