Hello, I have searched the forums a lot before writing here, but I feel this problem is highly specific and I couln't yet find a fix to it.

My desktop is connected via ethernet to my router (huawei echolife hg520c). If it is the only pc connected, everything works fine. There can also be other devices connected (ipad, smartphones) via wi-fi, and I still get no problems.

However, if another PC connects to wi-fi, my desktop starts having connection issues (I tried with both my laptop [win8] and my gf's one [win7] and it happens in both cases).

These problems may happen istantly or within an hour, and they might last few seconds or even minutes, it's totally random. This is especially noticeable when I'm playing online games, as I start lagging like crazy. Web pages also refuse to load whenever this happens and skype crashes (so it's not an in-game issue).

Meanwhile, the connection on the other devices work just fine (including the laptop).

One thing that temporarily fixes the issue, is resetting the router. By doing that, the problems go away for just about 1 hour, and after that, they gradually come back.

Things I have tried that did not work:

  • - Resetting the router to factory defaults
    - Static IPs on all computers
    - Dynamics IPs on all computers
    - Various DNS configurations (google ones, IPS ones, dynamic dns's etc...)
    - One pc with static IP, one pc with dynamic IP and vice-versa
    - Updatic network card drivers (it said they were already up-to-date)
    - Completely formatting my desktop and reinstalling windows from scratch
    - Using different lan ports to connect my desktop
    - ... probably something else which I currently can't remember.

Some specs: I have a custom PC with windows 7 pro 64bit installed, motherboard is an ASRock P67 pro3 SE, intel core i5-2500 CPU, 8GB RAM (not sure if this matters), router (as said above), is a huawei echolife hg520c.

Please help me :( ! If you need more info, just ask for it.

Best regards.

Solution
see if that helps, you can always buy a new router and test and return if you determine that it is not the router issue (with atleast 14day return policy)

i dont think it is the matter of hardware issue...
it seems like you havent tried getting a new router.
i feel like that the DHCP pool managed by your router seems not to be working properly to the wired devices...
actually, try to find a new firmware for the router and update it...
let us know, and good luck!

I hope it's not, the mobo is quite new (about 1 y/o).

I'll try updating the router firmware and see what happens. Thanks for the reply, I'll keep you updated :)!

UPDATE:
apparently, the firmware is not available for download. If I go on huawei website and select my router then click download on the firmware link, it returns an error. I guess I'll try with another router as soon as possible.
