Well, I thought I had cleared up all my problems after building my PC, but I guess not. Sometimes this thing runs slow, sometimes it runs smooth as butter. It's all over the place, and it's really bugging me. I know an SSD would be a better choice for gaming, but a 1TB 7200 RPM hard drive shouldn't be too bad either, right? Sometimes I click on Google, and it can take up to 30 seconds to load up. Other times, it will load up in a second! This is the most aggravating thing for me, I just want to have a smooth running PC! Sometimes in games, it will have annoying hiccups too, and Arma II can freeze for up to 20 seconds. Minecraft is very odd on this system, as with V-Sync on, it is showing 54-60 fps all the time. However, the screen is tearing as if it was running at 1000 fps! A bunch of chunks take an unnecessary amount of time to load up too. My specs are WAY more than enough to run Minecraft, I am getting really pissed off! If anyone out there is having the same problem, or knows how to fix it, please help!

You have probably set windows backup to run automatically.
You can change that to on demand.

I doubt that McAfee is the culprit. I use windows security essentials which is free an very low resource.

Your connection speed is determined by the highest common speed of the adapter or the gateway.
You probably have n with a theoretical speed of 300MBPS, but a more practical speed of 150MBPS
That should be fine.
From the specs, you should have no problem.
As a comment, with only one stick of ram you will run in slower single channel mode.
But... that should not be your problem.

Turn on task manager, then performance monitor.
See if you can't see what programs are running when you have a problem, and what resources they are using.

Do you have at leas a antivirus program and malware detection?

Even though you have wireless n, does you gateway router support that speed.
A click on the network sharing center should tell you what speed you are running at.

Finally, do reconsider a ssd. Not so much for gaming as for making everything else you do much quicker.

In my BIOS, all the correct specs are shown, so no parts should be damaged.

Download and run memtest86+.
It is the gold standard for testing ram.
It will test your ram. If the test fails, it is time to replace the ram or return it for rma.

I'm currently using McAfee for an AntiVirus, and I do scan for problems, it shows up with nothing bad. However, Windows alerts me to backup my files with external storage, which I don't completely understand, but I assumed it's nothing, or at least has nothing to do with my problem. It says that my signal speed is 150 MBPS. Now I'm not sure if that relies on the signal strength to the router, but I do have a somewhat poor connection (router is on the other side of the house), but once again, that shouldn't be causing what's happening.
