I'll start off by saying I am a noob. I've been doing research and trying to understand everything. However, I've messed around with PC Part picker and have in mind what I would do if I saved up to my $500 budget and made a custom gaming PC. Although it makes sense to wait and pick my parts then, i'm feeling a little impatient and wanting to know if my idea is possible. The reason i've even considered the idea is because I could have a gaming pc quicker and save some money.
My dad has an old dell tower at his office. I think he said 4 or 5 years old. I was wondering if I replaced the cpu, gpu, and mobo if I it would work fine? I don't know what the power supply is or if its even compatible, but I would find that out. I believe the computer has 4GB of ram. It's also possible it won't be compatible either, but I won't know until I go over and check it out.
This is where I don't know anything and i'm spouting off statements that I may have no idea what i'm talking about. I'm looking to game with low settings 720p 30fp's. If mid settings are possible then sweet. Games I would want to play include, Dead Space 3, Onimusha 3, Alan Wake, maybe Battlefied 4, Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Arkham City, and Crysis 2.
I have a Microcenter that is 30 minutes away so I can go in store to purchase parts.
These were the parts I picked.
CPU: AMD A10 6800K
Mobo: FM2-A75MA-P33
GPU: GV-R777OC-1GDR2 AMD Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition
Again, I know the better option is to pick my parts for the $500 budget, but i'm looking at this as another point of research for myself.
