my girlfriend and i are building a gaming computer. she has helped build a computer in the past, but that was about 5 years ago. needless to say, we need help. even if it may be brutal we need advice. this is what we are looking at so far...
EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Superclocked with ACX Cooler 4 GB GDDR5 256-Bit
Asus Z87 PRO LGA 1150 Motherboard
Intel Core i7-4770K Quad-Core Desktop Processor 3.5 GHZ 8 MB Cache
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz
Corsair Enthusiast Series 850-Watt 80 Plus Bronze Certified Power Supply Compatible with Core i3, i5, i7
Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III
WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM
Windows 7 Home Premium
a few other things that seem pointless to mention
liquid cooling?
anything else?
if im wasting money on anything please let me know lol
thanks for your advice!

For a gaming computer I would go with the intel i5 3570k or 4670k, 8GB of RAM. If using a single 1080p screen a 2GB GTX 770 to save money; or go with a 280x or r9 290.

Other than that the SSD and HDD look good, I would grab a CPU cooler, the hyper 212 is an inexpensive but good cooler. If you want a closed loop water cooler I would look at the H90 and up as long as your case has the correct fan sizes for it.

Buy AMD FX 8350 processor and
MSI 990FXA-GD65 Motherboard
MSI NVIDIA N760 TF 2GD5/OC 2 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card

amd processor is good in performance than i7 3rd generation but not 4th but i strongly recommend amd due to its smaller price than i7 4th generation

i think you wont need gtx 770 because its too much for gaming
frankly telling the combination of above config is so powerfull and will last longer

So wait you're telling him to buy a less powerful rig to make it last longer? Show me any proof of 8320's outlasting 4770s... wait you can't because neither one of them are nearly old enough for any of them to be failing due to age.

Performance wise i am agreeing to you but money wise its too costly thats why i suggested fx8350.I don't agree that this processor will not last longer than 17 4th gen however if money is not a problem i think ur config is way better than mine i think so supahos
