I am running three monitors currently (may drop down to two), 2x Asus VN248 and 1x HP w2216h.

CPU build:
Intel i7 3930K
Nvidia GTX 680 4gb
Asus Rampage IV Motherboard
Patriot Extreme 32 GB

I have the 2x Asus monitors connected via HDMI to DVI cable connected to the 680. I have the HP connected to the 680 via HDMI to HDMI.

I get sound in only one of the ASUS as a default. If I go into the sound control panel I can choose which monitor I want as the default audio channel. I looked in the Nvida control panel and the Geforce experience prog and there are no sound settings there. I did see the Nvidia Surround PhsyX which is really nifty to span the screens but that did not activate the sounds on each monitor.

I want to activate or use all three monitor sounds at the same time to get a rich experience without a separate surround sound speakers. Can anyone help me set this up?

Solution
Now, either way isn't ideal, as if you have 3 monitors spread around you, you want left sounds coming from the left monitor and half the middle monitor and right sounds coming from the right half of the middle monitor and the right monitor.

With the right combination of audio cables from a dollar store, splitters, etc, you could make it work.

if your trying to play games though, it's going to sound off with getting the left and right sounds from the left of you and the middle and the right. ideally for directional sound in gaming, you want to hear a bullet come from the left side of you, not 3x at the left, middle and right of you, so that's why the spliter method is the only way to get it.

Look at this way, you have 6 speakers around you. 3 on the left you want the left signal, 3 of the right you want the right signal. no possible way to do that with hdmi, only splitting the analogue signal.

That or get a set of speakers and ditch the monitor speakers.

#1 is the scenario from using hdmi or 3 outputs from the analog into each monitor. no directional sound.

#2 is using splitters. you get directional sound.

We're talking about monitor speakers, the sound quality already sucks on most monitors, I don't think the splitter is going to affect it that much, and would give better positional audio.

That's what I thought about DVI, but one end is HDMI that goes into the monitor and the other end that goes into the 680 is DVI and it gets sound through there.

What type of splitters would I need?

So I plugged in the 3 analog (green cables) into the monitors and plugged the ASUS on the left into the Blue Line in jack.

The HP in the center is plugged into the standard green line in jack.

The ASUS on the right is plugged into the black rear speaker jack.

Running the tests with windows I can tell that the monitors each now display a sound but I am still not sure how to configure this if I have to configure anything. Not sure if they are "surround sound" and not all going off at once.

The realtek audio manager is not helpful as none of the tests or configs are working. Using windows sound manager from control panel I can send a test to each monitor and each monitor makes the noise. But when I played Avengers to test out sound only the left continued to make the sound.
