Yes, you will need to upgrade your CPU, however, you will also need to upgrade your motherboard, seeing as all of the FM1 CPUs will bottleneck the GPU. I would recommend an AM3+ motherboard and an AMD FX-6300 (best bang for buck CPU). However, The R9 270X may bottleneck your eyefinity setup depending on the no of monitors and the resoultion.

i agree with sourodip!! apu cpu's are like athlons with embebded graphics. so if you use a discrete videocard it will shutdown the integrated one. then you are just using a highly overclocked athlon (witout L3) .. you can do eyefinity depending on the resolution of the monitors you will use

I just Bought a Sapphire r9 270x , i have the same cpu... I Run battlefield 4 on ulta 8x msaa 40-50 FPS(so i run it with 2x and i get +60fps). There's no bottleneck there, cause is the maximun that r9 270x can handle. Of course the a8 3850 is overclock at 3.6 Ghz(2.9 reference clock) with AMD overdrive, not big deal, but for sure with stock cooler it will overheat to 60-70c°, i have a cooler master evo witch cost $25, so the temperature is 45-50c° maximun.

if don't want to change/buy CPU/Motherboard Combo, yes you can go ahead and buy the r9 270x.

Note: Also at 2.9Ghz there's no bottleneck eighter and of course if you got the money buy a AMD FX 6 or 8 series with a am3+ motherboard

sorry for my english.

1080p, 40-50, 50 is when i'm not in open word. Why are you so impressed? have you seen youtube videos with the sapphire r9 270x? , well, you should. 40/45fps average in open word with that card(8x msaa) thats the reason i play with 2x so i can get always 60fps+.(batllefield 4)

To get back on the topic - the last 2-3 was OFF ...

To answer you have to tell me what Eyfinity you are aming at :
3 x 1920x1080 = 5760x 1080 ( horizontal ) ......
3 x 1920x1080 = 3240x 1920 ( vertical) ......

6 x 1920x1080 = 5760x 2160 ( 2x horizontal ) ......
6 x 1920x1080 = 3240x 3840 ( 2 xvertical) ......

But no matter what you `r aming Eyfinity will KILL any single GPU - 2 x R9 290x in CF or 2x GTX780 in SLI will do the mid range result ....... if you`r aming for more than +50 FPS you have to look at 2 -3 - 4 way Crossfire or SLI

You have got to be the luckiest R9 270X holder in the world. They might have accidentally packed an R9 280X inside the case which you got. Pun intended!!

Agreed, even with my 270x core overclocked to 1220 I drop into 40's with 2x occasionally. That's running an FX 8350 @ 4.4ghz too. Maybe when he's looking at the sky or away from a battle and into the countryside..... Otherwise I call BS.

Eyefinity is nothing but multiple monitor set-up and yes I know it very well. What I meant was that Nvidia is better in multiple monitor set-ups than ATI/AMD. their GPU drivers are better equipped with multiple monitor solutions..

This link you `v posted is for Ultra settings with nice static TEXT in front - " 40 min 64 average and 104 max" or something ......... :)

In the same result i can run this game on my 4-5 years old GPU and i can even place " 60 FPS AVERAGE " .......
My point is that is not very good example ......... i`m not saying that 290x will play under 20 FPS but can you tell is it allays under 50 or 40 or what ever :)
FRAPS and i`m agree ............
