Hello,

I have a MB that supports one PCI-E 16x 3.0 and a second PCI-E x4 2.0. I want to crossfire a 270x would I'd expect a huge bottleneck or only minor?

Thanks.

First of all DON'T Crossfire,u will experience microstuuter issues. Secondly, doing xfire on x16 and x4 mode decreases performance remarkably.
So invest the whole money on a single powerful gpu like the R9 280x/R9 290.

you wont notice a performance decrease in that set-up. infact thre will be or you will notice a increase in in speed, microstutter is no longer a problen in new cards as drivers had solve the issue. thew performance depends on the cpu you will use. the difference in bandwith between x4 and x16 is not noticeable unless tested in synthetic benches. i think in games its okey.

crossfire has been fixed...no microstutter whatsoever...16x and 4x has no problem with 270x
go for it...don't listen to these wannabes who have no personal experience about multi gpu configuration...
multi gpu has been introduced back in 2005...its been 8 years....amd and nvidia are not idiots you know...

I had a brainfart and thought my mb had two pcie 3.0, and I bought two 270x. I found out quickly that it is one 3.0x16 and a 2.0x4. While not optimal, I'm only seeing about 10-15% decrease in performance on the second card in crossfire mode at load. It is practically unnoticeable when gaming running highest settings 1920x1080. As cards scale and have more power and throughput that bottleneck with become much more noticeable but I'm not seeing much for gaming on the 270x right now. Practically hangs right there with a Titan for less cash out of pocket. Of course power consumption and heat are always beefed up in any multi GPU configuration
