for a new gaming desktop, 1x8gb or 2x4gb?

im asking this question not becaues i don't know the benefits of dual channel but because I don't know whether or not 16GB would be necessarily for gaming in say 2-3 years?

  1. You should use 2x4Gb, as dual channel is going to make loading everything faster, as you have two RAM slots to transfer data instead of one.
  2. I don't think you read my question.

I don't think you will need over 8GB within a couple years, when we do DDR 4 should be ready and time to change to that anyway.... :)

I totally agree :) DDR4 is being released with Haswell-E next year. Can't wait to sink my teeth into their new extreme series processor and see what Nvidia has to offer :D
