Hi.

I'm thinking of upgrading my computer by changing my hard drive.
I am currently using a 7200RPM HDD (1TB).

My plan is to buy an SSD (maybe 120 GB) and install the OS on it, and keep my HDD for stuff like games and programs. But I'm uncertain of how much of an performance boost this would give.
I imagine the computer would boot up faster, but the games and programs should run at about the same speed, right?

Is it worth doing it this way, or should I spend more on a more expensive SSD and completely remove the HDD from my system?

Solution
It's all up to you what you want to do, but if your games are on your HDD and your OS is on your SSD, you will see a boost in OS speed, but I recommend going with a 250GB or so and putting your OS and programs and games you use most often on the SSD, and storing all the junk like pictures, videos, rarely used programs, etc on your HDD. I recommend looking into the Samsung 840 EVO SSD

Games will run at the exact same speed, but they will boot much faster. You won't see any FPS gains, but you will see gains in terms of the timespent to boot up the game. As for booting your system, there will be a great increase in speed seen. Comparing an HDD to an SSD is a great advantage.
