I bought a new PC from BestBuy and they said it can run 4 monitors. The gpu is a AMD HD8760 Series. I am using a Displayport-to-DVI, VGA-to-DVI, HDMI, and a normal DVI to connect the monitors.

All four monitors are showing up, but two are disabled and two are enabled. AMD Vision allows me to exchange which monitors I want to use, but I can't enable more than 2.

This is the card: http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/pages/r...

the issue is in the 7xxx/8xxx series gpus... AMD gpus only allow 2 digital connections, to get a 3rd digital connection you need an active DisplayPort adapter to get the 3rd and 4th monitor to display

I have one of these: http://goo.gl/E6sqlU plugging into one monitor. This doesn't help, cause its only one. Can I plug a DVI splitter into my active display port so I can run 2 monitors into the display port instead of one?

sorry... i'm not on the computer a lot during this season. it's a huge fundraising season for my missionary church. let me see... this is the basic issue.

AMD gpus since the 5xxx or 4xxx series... have needed what's called an "active display adaptor" for all digital outputs on their gpus past 2. you are using 3 digital ports on your card...
1) display port
2) hdmi
3) dvi
your vga to dvi i don't think counts but it might in the math, it's been a little bit since i had to think about this.

ANYWAY those 3 ports are all digital, so you need something called an "active display adaptor". here is an example of one such product. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... . if you need to read more about this issue, here is a link to an excellent explanation about eyefinity and active displayport adapters. http://www.overclock.net/t/721931/

Ok, so if I buy that active display port, can i plug this into the DVI end? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Then I could have 2 monitors running into the active port. or would this not work?

I read that post, but I am still wondering how to get 4 monitors all "active displays" if there is only one display port
