Nvidia Geforce 8400 GS, a Second Monitor, and Me.

I am trying to hook up a second monitor to my system using a Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS card, and two DELL SE197FP monitors. For the main monitor I am using a VGA to VGA cord (you know, a blue to blue), and for the other I am using a DVI->VGA transformer with a VGA to VGA cord. My computer is registering that both computers ARE connected, and even gives me options for manipulating the other screen, but I am receiving no image with the other. When I press the menu button on the screen it self I get this message:
In Power Save Mode
Press computer power button
or any key on keyboard or move mouse
and I receive it every time I press the button. I have tried all of the things it prompts and nothing has helped.

A gracious thank you to anyone who can help me understand what is going on.

As i used to have this graphics card and constructed exactly the same setup as this apart from the monitors, it sounds like a mistake via the control panel which i had a few times. so go to your control panel and the area that you can edit your resolution in and your two screens should be displayed and registered seperatly, now under that should be a drop down menu or tick boxes. they will say a mixture of things between getting the screens to copy each other, extending the display and there is another option that if chosen it will actually cancel out the other monitor from the situation.
I hope this helps your situation

I just attempted this and I could not find the option to remove the monitor. I believe something in your instructions were lost in transmission...
I am still looking for answers.

i will attempt again as i was partially my fault for a bad explanation and yes i think things where lost in trasmission, so on the screen resolution page of the control panel your 2 screens should should up next to each other with a number 1 and two on them, below that you will have display, resolution, orientation and multiple displays. now under multiple displays you will have the options to duplicate the displays, extend the displays and show desktop on screen 1 and another option for screen two. so if you check those options as sometimes showing the desktop on one screen will make the other turn off.

I have done this and my computer is now only showing on one screen, but this is no different than what is has been doing. I have no option to disconnect the other computer.
