I have a new corsair cx430w power supply and an asrock fm2a75m pro4+. The 20+4 pin power cable on the power supply won't plug in all the way to the motherboard. I tried attaching only the 20 pin part and it still only goes about halfway in. Does not 'click' into place. After hours of trying to get this to work i've made no progress and think i'm just going to damage the motherboard. Is my power cable faulty?

Stupid question, but you've made sure it's rotated in the correct direction, and you're not trying to plug it in backwards?

I don't really have anything intelligent to offer. Just make sure you're lining up the connectors right. It will only fit one way. It's good you had the sense not to force it :)

Other than that, I don't know what to say. It's either defective or you're not lining things up right. Just double check before you get a new unit. It's a standardized kind of pin, so it should be compatible.

Yeah it's in the right direction and enters the socket but it doesn't go in all the way. Refuses to click no matter how hard I push and I can see a little space where it isn't entering :/

Is there like a locking mechanism that could be getting in the way? Like small plastic latch or something?

Not that I can see. I tried connecting my old psu cable to my motherboard and it took it without too much fuss. I think i'll just send this one back and get another.

Hold the end of the 20+4 up to the 20+4 of your old PSU and check for any differences
