Ok so heres my story...
I built a gaming pc during summer and have been running single player games just fine but when it comes to multiplayer games (battlefield 4), I can barely get through a game without rubber banding or crashing.
I have a netgear wn1000v2 router and modem set up. The only problem is its all set up in my basement and my pc is two stories above it in my room.
I use the TPLINK Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter in my pc right now but my connection is so inconsistent. On speed test.net I go from an 81ms ping to a 25ms back up to a 69ms ping with an average download and upload speed of around 5-6mbps.
Right now i am considering purchasing the netgear WN3000RP wifi range extender and plugging it in to my wall next to my computer and then running an ethernet cable from it to my computer. My question would be: Would doing this decrease and maintain my ping substantually enough so that it would be worth the $70?
Also, with my situation, what other options do I have? I'm looking to maintain a pretty low budget and not looking to spend over $100 but I would like to consider every option I have.
I appreciate your time.
p.s. I do live in a house full of devices/people using wifi
