So basically it's as it says in the title. Whenever I try to use my webcam (Microsoft Lifecam HD-5000) in Skype or whatever else I get the BSoD with code DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. Help, please?

P.S I'm running Windows 8.

Faulty camera or faulty drivers.
Try the Win8 build in camera app
Try on another computer

Did you plug it in and use it, or did you install the drivers from the internet or a disc?

How do I go about doing that? Because as soon as I start the Lifecam app my music either stops or starts stuttering and I bluescreen.

It works on my laptop so it isn't the camera's fault.

I installed my drivers from the internet and checked and they're still up to date.

Which USB port did you plug in? If it's USB 3 then try USB 2.

Before the lifecam software was installed and the camera was plugged in, does Windows ask for drivers?
If not then uninstall the lifecam software, plug in the webcam and see if device manager detects it.
If it's detected, then open up the build in camera app and see if that works.

Optional
Try the firmware update

I just put it in the USB 2.0 port and it's working fine, thanks!
