Need a question answered about switching from IDE to AHCI on my SSD drive.

Will I run into any problems switching my ssd from IDE to AHCI if I only have games installed on it? i know my system will crash if i have my OS installed but i don't. I'm just simply wondering if it's safe for me to do without hurting my drive, that's all. I don't really care about loosing my game installs, i can always just re-install them. thank you for your help!

  1. No you hurt anything and you would need to switch it to AHCI before you install the OS anyway. So ye switch it in the BIOS and then install Windows and you will be fine.

what i meant was the only thing i have installed on my ssd is games. i just got the ssd today. everything else is installed on my computer, OS and all that. i'm just wondering if i can switch from ide to ahci safely. i don't intend to install my OS on it or anything but games.

It is perfectly safe. You won't loose anything on your boot disk.
