Hello,

I am planning on building a PC with the following specs:

CPU: Intel i7 4770K
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87x-D3H or ASRock Z87 extreme4
RAM: 8GB 1600mhz DDR3
GPU: Sapphire R9 280x Vapor-X
PSU: Corsair CX600 600W or Antec HCG-620M
Storage: 500 GB HDD
Case: Thermaltake Chaser A31

I plan to add another 3.5" HDD and a SDD in the future.
I wont be doing any extreme overclocking, just what is possible on air and what my PSU can handle.

Therefore, can you please advise which motherboard is better for my system? i.e Gigabyte Z87x-D3H or ASRock Z87 extreme4. I'm leaning towards the ASRock but its only slightly cheaper (has better onboard audio though). Performance wise I guess both the boards will be similar?

I currently dont plan on going to the Crossfire/SLi route, but its a good option to have just in case. Otherwise, perhaps I could get a cheaper board?

Please note that I'm based on Dubai so my options may be limited.

Appreciate your help.

The Extreme4 is compared to the UD3 boards. And the UD3 is considerably better than the D3H.

So get the Asrock if they are around the same price.

Thanks for the input!

Do you reckon that the ASRock has good quality components (i.e. for OC, long term stability)? Just wanted to double check as I don't know much about this brand,

They do, yes.
I have the Z77 Extreme4 running at 4.6GHz for over a year now.

That's good to hear! Any idea how the ASrock board compares to the ASUS Z87-A and C?

Asus is known for more robust boards with extremely high quality in most cases.

The Asus A is slightly better in my opinion, with a thicker PCB and just a sturdier design.

I see. I think the Asus Z87-A is slightly more expensive here in Dubai (circa $30 perhaps), Do you reckon that is worth it or the ASrock is great on its own?

Please note that probably I wont be overclocking any time soon but keeping my options open in the future.

In my opinion, no, the asus is not worth that extra money.

Thank you Novuake. I'll have a look on Saturday to see if the ASRock is available.
