Hi all,

We are going to produce a new animation in 4K at 60Hz. We have 4K displays at the moment but not yet the graphics card. I have done some goggling but found very few information. Could anyone tell me what are the possible ways of connecting a 4K display which supports 60 Hz to a graphics card which has some HDMI or DP or DVI outputs. What points we should be careful when buying the cards? Thx.

HDMI can only support 4K at 30hz, so you dont want to be using that. You need to use a Dual-Link DVI or (ideally a) Displayport connection to get 4K at 60hz.

What graphics card to buy depends on what your going to be using it for.

I know that HDMI only supports 4K 30Hz. What about having two HDMI connections from graphics card to the display? Is there any display + graphics card doing such tricks?

I think it's a lot easier to find a card with a DisplayPort output, than one with two HDMI outputs.

Just a shortcut to what you'll realize sooner or later.

There are a couple of 4K screens doing that, where basically each half of the screen is considered a separate display and each cable address' one of them.
Though it has issues, I suggest just getting a screen that outright supports 4K with a single cable than getting one with a work-around solution like that.

As pointed out by Huilun, its not like DisplayPort or Dual LInk DVI is hard to find on a graphics card, both have been standard on graphics cards for a long while.

Guys, what about waiting for HDMI 2.0? It iwll support 4K at 60 Hz by default.

You can wait. But I don't know if your 4k display will be able to use HDMI 2.0.
