Hey people,

I recently bought some new RAM for my computer, a single stick of corsair vengeance DDR3 1600mhz 4gb. I only planned it to be a temporary fix as my previous RAM sticks went dead on me (Corsair XMS3 1333mhz 2x2gb) and I plan to get a new motherboard and processor before new years. I decided to go with a 1600mhz module as I intend to use it in a brand new motherboard eventually and I read that 1600mhz RAM should work fine in a 1333mhz motherboard.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work, my computer turns on and makes all the usual noises but my monitor never receives a signal and the button remains red just below the screen. I have one old RAM stick still barely working which I am using right now so I am able to change bios settings and what not but this RAM is on it's last legs and regularly causes horrible BSOD when I begin multitasking or gaming. The other stick went through the same symptoms and eventually stopped POSTing completely so I fear I'm sitting on a time bomb here!

Wondering if there is anyway I can get this stick to work on the old motherboard before I replace it? I have a feeling that this RAM stick will fail soon and I will be stuck without a desktop before new years!

I will list all my specs below, many thanks for any replies.

Make sure your BIOS has the memory set to DEFAULT or AUTO and that you don't have any XMP profiles in use. No custom settings. Then power down and try the new memory again.

Good luck!
