I am looking for a decent power supply to run my R9 290 which I will soon be buying. I don't really want to spend more than £60-70 on it as I'd prefer to spend that on a better aftermarket card, so what could be a decent quality PSU which would run the R9 290? Thanks.

Here's one, it's 750w, which should do you fine and it's 80+ Bronze.
It isn't modular, but it fits perfectly into your wanted price range.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Power Supply: Corsair Builder 750W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£65.99 @ Dabs)
Total: £65.99
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

here is even better offer and it´s modular :
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-120pb075...
however it has only average build quality but so does the corsair CX...

selection also depends on where do you want to buy the psu .

In England, the cheapest you can buy this power supply is £78, but yes, it is still also a great power supply,
and the difference between modular and semi modular really isn't different, because the only cables not modular in a semi-modular PSU are the required ones anyway.
