My Pc screen had been going black randomly, with no specific reason (whilst gaming may I add), and today it started doing it more frequently.. I shut down the PC, turned it back on, same issue.. I then removed the graphics card (nvidia, pretty basic card.. Nothing special, does have a fan).. Tried it again, didn't work.. I then tried my old graphics card, and the old one also first wok.. The PC starts up, all lights (keyboard), and fans are on, but no screen.. (Also no sound I think, but I'm not sure).. It's a dell Inspiron 570.. I changed the psu to a corsair cx600 (over a year ago), and I added some RAM, totalling 6gb.. I believe it's a 2,8 ghz.. Needs to be confirmed though..

I would suggest doing a complete reset on the bios of the motherboard just to make sure nothing is goofed up there. Afterwords check to see if it starts up before going into the bios to change settings around. Also Unplug/Replug the cord between the monitor and video card on both sides. Also if you have a different cord try that to make sure.

To reset the bios, it's a CMOS reset right? (Where I take off a plastic cover from 3 puns, switch it around etc?)

Edit : I did the bios reset, used a VGA plug (as opposed to a dvi) and the screen turned on, got me to the dell loading screen, but froze whilst loading. Keyboard also no longer turns on.

Try changing to a different USB slot for the keyboard and also try doing a reset for the power supply. While computer is off, flip the switch on back of power supply and then totally unplug it, wait 10 seconds and then replug and flip switch back on. Then try again.

If its still having trouble it is possible that this could all be caused by your power supply starting to go bad. Do a search about Bad Dell Power supply. I had a dell a looonngg time ago that the power supply started to go bad and similar stuff started happening. Sorry I didn't mention that in my first post but I had forgotten all about it.
