Hello everyone. We're looking for a new monitor for someone who is a fairly casual gamer, they play games such as Skyrim, Minecraft, Sims 3, etc. We've narrowed it down to two monitors based on price, reviews and a whole bunch of other requirements. Now, there are two things that are definitely not my forte, Power Supplies and Monitors. I'd like to know which would be better for the price out of these two monitors.

Now, I like the look of the Gateway monitor as the Acer is near the top of our price range at the moment, but the 8ms response time puts me off. Is there really that big of a difference between 5ms and 8ms? My current monitor which I use for all sorts of different tasks such as web browsing, watching videos, playing casual games, high-speed games like Crysis and Battlefield, and it has a 5ms response time.

I suppose what I'm really asking is whether the Gateway would be good enough for a casual gamer who may end up playing high-speed games like what I play once in a while.

Thanks,
Mephikun

Stay away from those two brands. Acer is hit or miss but no one on this forum even talks about Gateway so they're not that reputable :D

Reputable brands for displays are BenQ, Asus, Samsung, HP, Dell, LG.

Here's one. There will probably be some sales for monitors (as there always are) sometime around Christmas.
