Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz/XMP not working

Hi,
I had been using a dual channel 4GBx2 CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 v.2.12 for almost 3 years, and yesterday, 1 of them failed, getting BSODs , cant boot, etc, ran memtest and there was more than 10000 errors, so i got a new 4GB stick CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 v.2.12, i thought it would start without any hiccups, when i went into bios, the XMP option was grayed out, and when i install the sticks separately, everything was fine, can enable XMP, can boot in 1600mhz, but when i put the 2 sticks together, i cant get XMP to work (disabled) and when i manually adjust the timings and up the voltage a bit, it just keeps resetting back to 1333 mhz, what seems to be the problem here?? any help would be appreciated.

Specs:
Core i5 2500K..(stock)
MSI Z77a-g45, \
Seasonic X 750 KM3,
Assorted HDDS
Asus GTX 670 DCII

PS: i tried 3 different versions of mobo bios and nothing seems to work

The XMP profiles are likely different between the 2 models being used, thus why that option is not available. The performance difference between 1333 and 1600 is negligible, BTW.

Most Corsair memory carries a lifetime warranty. I would suggest RMAing (exchange) the matched pair and using the new memory until the replaced memory shows up.

thanks, i started the RMA process, the problem is that the heat spreaders on both the modules came off, so im not really sure they will accept an RMA, meanwhile, since i cant get to 1600mhz, i adjusted the latency to 7-7-7-21 @ 1T (1333mhz), hopefully, it should provide similar performance to 9-9-9-24 @1T (1600mhz).. ran memtest and everything is stable

Wow!!, Corsair is so good, thanks for the advice COLGeek, i had a discussion with a Corsair rep, my RMA is approved, i will proceed with it tomorrow. below is my discussion with the rep if anyone is interested

You: its about my ticket no 6299306
You: i bought a dual channel kit corsair Vengeance rams 4gbx2
You: in 2011, last week 1 of them failed, and while i was testing them out, memtest failed horribly on one ram stick while the other is fine
You: i thought it could have been my ram slot so i tried testing the slots individually with each ram stick, while doing so, the heat spreaders came off
You: the thing is that i did not know that they were covered under warranty as the shop from where i bought them said it was a 1 year warranty

You: so, since i didnt know that they were under warranty, i applied double sided adhesive on the still working ram heat spreader and repaired it

You: found that they cannot run in XMP as they were different versions..

You: i thought, since they were of the same clocks and speed, and same vengeance series, they would work

You: ive been using corsair rams from the XMS series and this is the first thats failed on me
Justin G: The IC chips must be from the same manufacturer in order for them to work flawlessly.
You: i also bought 4 XMS2s at different times and stores and they worked fine with each other, thats the main reason i thought this would work
You: and yea they work fine without enabling XMP/1600mhz
You: but running them at 667/1333 kind of moots the purpose
You: so, what suggestions can you give me

You: im a bit nervous about it because the shipping charge is quite high as i live in a remote place in India, and after sending, RMA was rejected
You: mainly because i repaired the faulty heat spreader on the good ram stick
