Do you know what lan card you have, whether it be intergrated or not? If so, google it for the right drivers.

If your computer was made by a manufacturer, say dell, goto dell.com and look up the drivers for your lan.
Tell it what your os is, then look under network or internet for your drivers.
Look for the most updated that is a driver, not application.

I can definatly help you, this is my area. Tell us more about your setup, as in; is it a custom or manufactured computer? If so, what model.

When you go to device manager do you have any yellow marks next to your lan internet or have anything that says unknown?

And your device manager. Does it show anything with a yellow mark or does anything say unknown or have a question mark? In your device manager everything should have no yellow marks anywhere and all tiles should be closed. This will give you a hint on whether you installed all the drivers and if they are installed correctly. Most times in driver situations the device manager will tell all.

If there are no marks next to anything, shut down your computer. Lets try to hard powercycle the modem/router..

!Unplug your modem(if you have a router unplug that too)(and if you have a modem with a battery remove the battery also). Note: when you unplug them, unplug them from the back of each unit, not from the wall.

Wait 10-15 seconds and plug them back in.

Turn your computer back on. When it boots to the desktop, give it an extra minute to connect.

There may be an ip conflict, especially if there was a another pc hooked up to this line before the new computer...This should fix it if you have the right driver in there...

P.S. Next time you do this, make sure the connection works before you install windows. Even if you have to powercycle the modem and router right when it asks if you want to connect to look for updates(if it says your not connected, try to get it working). Its worth it. Sometimes you get lucky and it will install some or all the hardware drivers during the update process.

And if the powercycle doesnt work we can try to look in the network center to see whats going on. Sometimes disabling and re-enabling the connection or disabling the wireless will get the lan to work. And there may be a default setting there that may be on or off. The infamous power management could be turning it off or something else in there.
