Hey guys, I recently purchased an i5 4670k. Im using a CM hyper 212 EVO. Right now im at an overclock of 4.2GHz with a 1.2 Vcore, and at idle im getting about 35-37C. I was wondering if this was a bit too high? Also, when running prime95 it only reaches about 55C. Shouldn't atleast rise 20C when running a stress test? Also, it only hits about 49 when playing BF4.
EDIT: ambient temp is about 26C

Solution
those are phenomenal temps at those settings bud

gratz, you just won the CPU lottery, now go get a waterblock and break some records :p

So you mean these are good temps? I've tried coretemp, HWmonitor, and the AIDA64 temp readings. Also for everyone else, the Prime95 temp was after about 4 hours. And are those idle temps fine?

just saw that it hit about 58 on aida64. if these are good temps what should the max be? looking to push more clock speed.

usually people think of 80-85 C as a max temp for haswell OC (running something heavy like prime95 or aida64)

so I think you're well under the thermal cap. you'll likely hit instability before you ever reach the thermal cap.

really? I know haswell tends to run warmer than both Ivy and Sand (clock for clock), but had higher heat tolerance...

tho I agree 80-ish is a good place to stop
