What is better for gaming and more futureproof ? I would pair them both with a 7770. Or should I get a pentium 3220 or a cheaper amd and pair them with the 7850 ?

Undoubtedly fx 6300... intel i3 4130 is a dual core CPU, which is not honestly appropriate for gaming anymore, the difference between the two is colossal when it comes to multi threaded http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Crysis-3-PC-235317/Tests/Crysis-3-Test-CPU-Benchmark-1056578/ . i4 is only a bit better in single threaded, but with games going towards being heavily threaded for example in watch dogs http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=4546&game=Watch%20Dogs or new capcom's engine is heavily threaded and takes full advantage of i7 CPUs, which is indeed good news for fx owners http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/132533/sponsored_feature_resident_evil_5_.php?print=1 this engine is going to be used in resident evil 5 for the first time or finally the new Unreal Engine which exactly specifies the more cores, the better http://www.shacknews.com/article/70348/epic-talks-unreal-engine-4 I see no reason, to go with i3 so fx 6300 if not fx 8320
Don't forget to close the post, if you feel you don't have any other questions

Definitely the FX 6300 especially considering how far you can overclock that chip

In single threaded programs, the i3 4130 is more powerful as its single threaded performance is nearly double that of a stock FX 6300

Given that games are becoming more CPU intensive and are slowly utilizing more cores, the 6300 would be the better choice unless you're planning an i5 or i7 upgrade in the near future

Where did you get the double figure from? I've heard it around, always wondered. If it's one of those sites that does synthetic tests then forget it, IMO.

Yeah I've heard it around somewhere too, most likely a synthetic benchmark but the single threaded performance is most definitely a fair bit more powerful than a stock 6300 :D

Also depending on where you live, you could find older IB chips like the i5-3330 for around $150-170

I'm pretty sure it's from synthetic tests. In reality, such as game performance, there is no such disparity.

That's for sure, 6 cores vs 4 logical/virtual cores so naturally you'd go for the 6300, the reason Intel's i3 compares well against AMD's quad cores is due to their single threaded performance, though the price of i3s aren't really justified

Thought you made a typo but it's 6 cores so it's even more clear of being the better option. Threaded (and overall) performance is what usually matters most (and alot of people only look at the core count) and not core count but yes the 6300 is the obvious choice here

I looked at that and thought the 8350's performance was a little low, and found this:

EDIT: different GPU in the test setup, derp.

Well, it is funny the website has chosen shogun 2, bit-tech is not a reputable web site, I do agree that Intel CPUs do better in these 2 tittles, but the difference is not this big, I have tested i7-3770k with shogun 2, its average frame rate was around 19fps on that CPU, well this game was at the beginning a flop, but alot of patches are released to alleviate the situation, http://www.behardware.com/articles/880-15/amd-fx-8350-review-is-amd-back.html as you can see i7 3770k gets the avrage of 19.8, fx 8350 gets the average of 15.2, you can put both in the same basket, UNPLAYBALE!!! of course, a lot of patches have been released which thoroughly fixes the problem. it is funny in shogun 2 only 2 cores of 8 cores work and the rest are parked about skyrim, it really is not a problem on fx CPUs, it plays them butter smooth, others with FX cpus can confirm that. However intel does better here, but the same thing can be said about multi-threaded programs, in which AMD cpus leave all logical Intel alternatives behind http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Crysis-3-PC-235317/Tests/Crysis-3-Test-CPU-Benchmark-1056578
