I'm trying to add an SSD to my HDD for OS and games. I don't need best of the best but I would also like something that's proven itself to be one of the more reliable. I know 840 EVO and samsung in general is reliable, but they are a bit more than I would like to spend so I'm looking for a good deal.

I just looked on amazon and I can grab an EVO for 165 which is about the most I'd like to spend, but I can find other 250ish GB for cheaper too. Would you guys agree that if you don't go Intel or Samsung it doesn't make too much of a difference what you get after?

The Samsung EVO and Samsung 840 PRO series are a lot better in both reliability and performance....The price difference isn't huge ($40 or 25% more) as compared to the four listed above....if you scroll down on the Samsung EVO 240GB - there is a 3rd party seller at New Egg offering it for $179....
