Well, Two quick questions, What is the Recommeneded Amperage on the 12 v rail for the 6990 (and wattage).

And, What would happen if a PSU fails, Would the whole system go down? or, would you just be able to buy a new PSU and go along like nothing happened?

Any answeres appriciated.

Power consumption of the card can be up to 450W @ 31.25A of current.

And it depends on how your power supply blows. Most will just fizzle out without drama but some have been known to fry everything and even your home if it catches fire while you're away although that's mostly laptops.

Okay, Thanks, Beacuse, Im getting a new system from a friend, and, well, Im usually hesitant about PSU's, beacuse, i dont need one blowing up, especially taking the system with it. Would this PSU be good (and, is it a good Brand)

Silverstone are excellent and that unit has alot of protection from worst case scenarios. I can't recommend it however, without knowing what the rest of your system will be though. It's best to overbuy on a PSU so you're not maxing it out constantly (which reduces it's lifespan). Just had another look and the 6990 needs 2 8 pin connectors and that sillverstone unit only has one. You need to find another PSU with 2 8 pin power connectors.

Try looking in the 850W territory as 750W is min recommended.

With the 6990 would recommend at least a 750 with 45 AMPs on the 12 volt rail
