Hello everyone i have a q9550 e0 operating at 3.75 ghz maximum due to 800 mhz ram capacity. (higher o.c causes instability)

I wish to avoid ram problem by getting a unlocked multiplier series qx9650. Targeting around 4.0-4.1 ghz..

My mobo is as follows:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2871#ov

(f6a beta bios)

Changing the cpu will cost me around 60£.

My memory is 6gb ddr2 Bigboy 800 mhz@882 mhz. (4gb+2gb, 2 sticks only, other sticks are damaged thus not usable)

Now the question is; i am wondering if changing the cpu bring more gaming performance? Passmark says that my cpu is 5250 points at the same time qx9650 4.0 ghz gets 6300 points (around the same with fx 6300, just below i5 2500 stock)

I have a gtx 660 Zotac, feeling no significant bottleneck except for Crysis 3 (welcome to jungle mission mostly, high quality, minimum fps drops to 26 while averaging 35 with fraps. Res: 1080p).

I dont have plans to change whole my rig until next summer. Only cpu if it brings performance. Maybe gtx 660ti also if i get qx9650. I will decide judging to your comments.

My last question is, do you think gtx 660ti could cause bottleneck with qx 9650 at 4.0 ghz?

Thanks.

So you say, getting a qx9650 won't be an upgrade but waste of money.

Yeah, as you said i also decrease some graphical settings in BF4 and CoD: Ghosts in order to avoid minimum fps problem. No problem with high settings with 2x AA though. BF3 runs perfect on ultra. I was just trying save some more time just like 7-8 months before major upgrade.
