Alright, so I'm building my first computer (well from scratch). The tower is a Rosewill Thor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

The pre-installed fans that come with it are 3 pin connectors. The weird thing is that on the tower, there are dials to control speeds for the fans that are pre-installed. From my understanding, a fourth pin is needed to control the speeds.

If I am wrong, can someone please clarify it to me, as I am a little confused. Do you only need 3 pin connectors to be able to control the speeds. Thanks in advance for the help!

The 4pin fan is controlled by PWM, which usually we connect it to the MB cpu fan connector and is controlled by software. If your case has the fan controller then the fan is the 3pin one that is controlled by voltage.
