Hey everyone, I have been searching through the forums for awhile but still haven't nailed anything down.

My current monitor is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009305 I would like to upgrade to something for gaming mostly, I have about $200-$300 to spend .

My current graphics card is an AMD HD7970, I play Battlefield 4 and LOTRO for the most part. I would like to know what people are using and happy with for gaming. I have my own sound system so I don't care about speakers on the monitor. Thank you all very much for suggestions !!!

I haven't had a big monitor as big as I have now, Is the 27" too big ? The 144hz I was reading that there was bad shadowing, is that true ? I'm going by some of the reviews I read and some are great and some are "find something else". I take into account people that write bad reviews about something might not be as smart as the Tom's Hardware gang. Thanks for helping !!!!

BTW those are nice !!!!! :D

Yeah you have people complaining about products, when really the user is the one who doesn't know how to properly use it. But I myself prefer using a nice 5ms IPS monitor, I like the better colors and viewing angles but that is just me. What is more important to you? Higher response times/refresh rate or better colors/viewing angles

I bought the GC I have now (took me 2 weeks to nail it down) because I like looking at details I like to see real-to-life trees, water and buildings in a game. I also like not getting my butt handed to me every five seconds because my monitor has a hiccup (not internet lag). For the most part I'm looking directly at the monitor. I don't watch movies or anything like that (have a 60" in living room for that).

The way I see it you have a few ways to go.

For gaming ,Is the HDMI input better or worst over DVI ? I've never used HDMI on a computer monitor before.Does refresh rate matter in the IPS monitor ? should I go to a 120 hz type monitor ?

I'd only go 120Hz if you plan on gaming above 60FPS, and with a single 7970 probably won't get that high in modern games. HDMI and DVI have the same quality as far as video, the only difference being that DVI only carries video and HDMI sound and even internet

Very cool thanks for the guidance. Now I'm looking at ideas of putting 3 of these together like I see on YouTube videos but don't think the wife will like the idea of me moving the whole bed over and removing her desk from the room. need to do some serious sucking up for this to happen . Thanks !!!!!!

WOW !!!! I've been using this monitor all day ASUS VS24AH-P 24-Inch LED-Lit Monitor. It is so vibrant in color,my games have a whole new look that's just amazing for me. I choose the game setting on the monitor and set the saturation up about 10 more clicks and It just looks great for games, My wife said it looked so nice she wants to get one. For the money I highly suggest anyone to get this, I'm so glad I didn't listen to the bad reviews about this monitor.
No dead pixels , YAY !!!!! Thanks again for the help.
