Trying to decide between 3570k or a 4670k.

I am switching from AMD to Intel and am looking at those processors. I am curious as to which gives the best performance overall. I know that the haswell performs better than the ivybridge, however I also know that the ivybridge OC's significantly easier and could get a potentially stronger overall OC.

My question to you is which would give me the better performance? The fan I would most likely be using is a 212 EVO. I might wait a week and save up the rest needed for a Noctua or Phantek though.

Also I would 4.2+ minimum OC.

Generally when you're upgrading and a motherboard is needed, it's best to go with the newest generation of CPUs.

The 4670k performs 5-10% faster than then 3570k, but also runs slighty hotter. As long as you get a good chip, you should have no problem reaching 4.2GHz+

I personally would go with the 4670k, but in the case you decide on the 3570k, you can't go wrong with either.

I heard the 1150 was going to potentially be a dead end socket since broadwell wont be coming out for quite some time?

Realistically by the time you are going to upgrade from ivy bridge, it will be time for a new mobo unless you like to piss money away. I'm banking on my i5 3570k lasting at least 5-8 years, and i don't think my expectations are that high.

Either the 3570k or the 4670k would be fine. Generally speaking overclockers have been unimpressed with haswell. Tom's is still recommending the 3570k.

Either one will smoke anything AMD has to offer right now. Basically your GPU will be your bottleneck regardless.

The 3570k will hit 4.2-4.6 on an 212 EVO pretty easy, depending on your chip. I can't speak of Haswell from personal experience.
