I need help to connect the power SW and the Reset SW. I am a newbie and try to build my first NAS.

this is an asrock B85m pro4 montherboard. attached pic is what I found in the manual. I put the numbers in red to make it clear.

both Reset SW and Power SW have 2 wires, one is red and one is blank.

for power SW, I think i need to use 3 and 4, but not sure which number should be red which number should be black.

for Reset SW, I am lost, not sure if I should use 7 and 8 or 8 and 9. also not sure which color should goes to which number.

I thought I explained, but I'll try again. All your switches are doing is connecting the red wire to the black wire when you press them. No it does not matter which color goes to ground in this particular application.

Nothing wrong with your choice of pin numbers, however I would personally choose to install the reset sw to pins 7 - 8, so that the connectors can all sit closer together and add a little bit of stability to their neighboring connectors.
Both power and reset buttons are momentary-on, single throw switches. Orientation of the connections is irrelevant in such a switch, as when activated, it just connects the two leads together.

As for orientation of the plug to the pin headers, it actually may not matter, as whether you went perpendicular or horizontal, both power and reset switches would have a ground, but normally the plug ends should match the orientation of the other plugs on the pin header.

Power SW: Red Wire (3), black wire (4)
Reset SW: Red Wire (8), black wire (9)
