So when I enable my v sync in any game while in crossfire I get audio stutter.
Im usingthe XFX R9 290 in crossfire and a evga x79 classified motherboard.

drivers are all up to date
no audio stutter in single GPU mode.
Tested with G35 headphones (usb) and normal 3.5mm stereo jack speakers.

Any solutions to this?
(From what i found online this isnt a amd issues its a sli/cross fire issue.)

Update*
its not so much a stutter as it is a crackling.

how many pci express slots do you have? Be sure each one is running at x8. And (I know this might sound stupid) but check to see if you put in a crossfire bridge. When you install drivers for crossfire, you need to clean install them, then enable crossfire in ccc, then reboot.

I have 5 PCIe slots ( http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=151-SE-E77... ) Evga x79 4-way classified motherboard.
I am running the cards in PCIe slots 1 and 4, both slots can do x8 and x16.
The R9 290 cards dont have crossfire bridges on top any more, they use some internal PCIe bridge.
The drivers were installed fresh. I deleted the automatic window7 drivers, deleted the old GTX570 drivers and installed the latest drivers from AMD.
Inside the CCC software I have crossfire enabled.

I am going to try moving the 2nd card from slot 4 to slot 2 right now.

So I noticed my first card was in quiet mode and the second card was in uber mode. I switched them to uber and tested, same audio issues.
I moved my cards to slots 1 & 3, same problems.

So.......
I have no clue what to do from here.

I just wanted to add that you are not alone. I've been working on this for about a week. Re-installed EVERYTHING, windows, drivers, flashed bios's, Everything. No Joy.

2 XFX 290's
Asus MB with RealTekdrivers.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know I am experiencing the same problems. I have tried every combination of settings in CCC and still have the crackling when VSync is enabled on my crossfired R9 290's.

In BF4 and Tomb Raider (2013) with VSync enabled, my frame rates get locked at 40 FPS even though CCC can see I have a 2560 x 1440 monitor running at 60 Hz. I can't get VSync to lock at 60 FPS, and of course the crackle starts and my frames get very jumpy. As soon as I turn off VSync, I am over 100 FPS in either title (just with a lot of screen tearing).

I hope they fix this with 14.1...

if you have vsync on and are getting audio chopping and poor performance
a. disable vsync
b. download and save the 9.2 beta drivers from
http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/amd_catalyst_13_11_...(13_250_18_november_7)_download.html
then uninstall current drivers by selecting uninstall when you run the driver package
once complete a message saying a reboot is required to complete process. before clicking yes disable you internet connection this is because if you don't windows will automatically install a later display driver that carries the issue of poor performance or audio chopping or both before it starts when vsync is enabled. you should notice the resolution on startup defaults to the lowest setting when there are no drivers installed
run the 9.2 driver package you downloaded from the link above. if you view log once complete the display driver should be v 13.250.18.0000 this should fix the problem and you'll be able to use vsync with good performance no audio problems until amd resolve it in a newer driver revision

share this round on the other forums if it works for you

I've run into this same issue, glad its not just me.

My board is able to run both cards at X16 from both slots

but as I suspected, it seems that the current video drivers are not up to speed with these cards, so I guess its just a matter of patience...

Same issue here...driving me nuts...all started for me with the 14.6 beta. Just a game or just a youtube video np...soon as I try to watch a youtube or streaming video WHILE I am gaming the audio static is prevalent...disable crossfire and both are crystal clear.

Re-enable crossfire while doing two audio things and the static crackling is back.

Yeah I've also narrowed it down to only happening when playing a video WHILE gaming with crossfire and vsync enabled. Not sure what the issue is...

The problem still exists in the 14.7 RC1 drivers.

I also posted in the AMD Forums, but no solution over there either.

I also have the audio crackling with two 290s in Crossfire but it seems to work okay in some games. I also noticed the crackling is still present even with Vsync off when I Alt-Tab minimize from full screen... very frustrating. I just updated to the latest 14.7 beta driver with no improvement. I'm not impressed with my first foray into AMD cards.

Yeah, i can confirm the "Tab out to Desktop" problem, i also have two sound cards and i hear it on both (the onboard one i use only for TS3).

Anyway, still the same with the latest 14.9 driver, suxx :(

In addition, now i have a MASSIVE texture flickering in PAYDAY 2, but i can resolve this by activating V-Sync and disabling it again...
