Hi guys putting together my computer finally. Heres the list. Will be getting the best gcard around once maxwell and the new radeons come out.

CPU : i7 4770k

Mobo: Asrock Z87 Extreme4

Ram: Gskill RipjawsX 2x4 GB Dual channel 2133 Mhz CAS11

Case: Corsair 300R

PSU: Seasonic M12ii 650W

Optical: Asus something

HDD: Westeren DIgital Caviar Blue 1 TB WD10EZEX

I have a few questions.
1) If I add a PCI card in one of the X16 slots, like a sound card will a graphic card on the first X16 slot run at x8?

2) If I populate one of the x1 slots will the gcard on the x16 slot run at x8?

3) When actually are the next gen GPUs coming out?

Thanks! Looking forward to your replies!

Hello, your system seems pretty good, but I would advise switching RAM. Having RAM at such high speed really will only give you a small boost. RAM gives very minor performance boost with high speeds for general data use. I'd personally save the cost and buy 16GB of slower RAM or something else.

For your questions.
1) Your correct. I am a little rusty on this side of things, but the chipset only has 16 PCIE lanes. All Intel chipsets use 16 PCIE lanes. Any item added in any PCIE lane will not allow your GPU to use all 16 lanes. Now I forget if your card will still use 15 lanes, or if it auto cuts down to 8, but I do know it for sure will cut down. This will happen with any situation involving any PCIE standard. Unless you have a PCI, not PCIE, PCI then it works a bit differently, but most do not anymore.

The next GPUs came out about a month ago. Not really sure actually but it was quite recent. It will probably be Summer before we see anything new or even later.

Yeah that RAM was like 5$ equivalent higher than a 1600Mhz 8 Gig kit on a deal. I just ordered it immediately. Can someone tell me what volyage it runs on? It says 1.5V test. Is it supposed to be okay with my processor?

Also. The 300R doesnt come with standoffs but the mounting instructions make no sense to me. It says there are raised screw holes so do I just align it to them and screw it in?

Oh well for an extra $5 it doesn't hurt. If it says 1.5v then its 1.5v which is the default Intel CPUs want. Other voltages work but from what I have heard 1.5v is preferable.

Well I cannot know for sure. I would say if it does have raised screw holes to avoid the problem then it will probably be evident. Just try to line everything up and it should be fine.
