Hello,

So I just upgraded my system to the below and shortly after clean installing Win7 I am getting BSODS and the computer will reboot, I think it's the memory. It's not instant, so far Ill install NIC drivers and hop on windows update when it BSODS.

Asus Masimus Hero 1150
Intel 4670k @ stock
8GB (2x4) gskill Ripjaws-x 1866 (f3=14900CL9d-8gbxl)
GTX 670
EVO SSD's
750 watt Antec PSU

I've run Memtest on both JDEC 1600 as well as XMP 1866 and am not getting errors so I'm not sure exactly what is causing it. Any suggestions?

Solution
1) Update your motherboard BIOS if you haven't done so.

2) Install the MAIN CHIPSET driver from the motherboard support site and other driver as well if you haven't done so.

3) Run Prime95 for at least 30 minutes to test for CPU errors.

4) Run without the graphics card (shut down and remove it; can leave drivers installed) by attaching to the motherboard and using the iGPU instead in your i5. I don't think you need to change any BIOS settings.

5) Flash the Samsung SSD BIOS using Samsung Magician though I doubt it would matter. I believe it can also tell you basic drive health but I forget if it has a diagnostic utility (I uninstalled it because it pops up every cold boot).

MEMTEST is almost 100% indicative of no DDR3 memory errors...

the mother board is my guess..Ive had the same thing happen to me... when it was out of the case I accidently stepped on it though haha luckily it was a really cheap 50$ asrock board

also could be the ssd's, in the setup right click them and reformat..then install windows

MEMTEST is almost 100% indicative of no DDR3 memory errors, though you must run at least one complete cycle (about 30 minutes for 8GB).

I doubt it's your SSD or Windows installation though it's not impossible.

Thanks for the tips and to photon;

1. Already Installed
2. Already installed
3. Already ran prime95 twice now for over an hour each time rock stable
4. I'll look into this one.
5. Both EVO's are flashed to latest BIOS
6. Have run several passes of memtest, at least a couple hours.

I'm not 100% sure but I could have sworn it crashed on me before after plugging in my cell phone to charge using a USB cable on the front panel connectors, I wonder if it's a USB thing? I'll have to try and reproduce the BSOD with connecting USB's.
