I don't have a vent above the cpu cooler, so I decided to put it downwards facing towards the GPU.

Well in case, AMD FX 8250 || CM Hyper 212 Cooler || ASYS GTX 760 DirectCU II OC

Is this okay? If not, please suggest me something.

[EDIT] UPDATE: One fan in the front of the HDD at the bottom.

More about : placement gpu

Mainly gaming, Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, etc.

I'd agree with Trane20 this will be fine given that you have enough overall airflow through your case, if you don't then it could become a problem as the CPU cooler will suck up the heat from the GPU before that hot air can be dissipated from the case

I have about 4 inches of open space from the heat sink to the roof of the cabinet.

How many fans has your case got installed in it? And in what positions?

I have total two fans right now. One at the front bottom and one at the top rear. That's about it. I also had 2 fans on the side panel but I have removed that panel itself as of now.

It would make the most sense to have the fan on the RIGHT SIDE blowing air towards the rear case fan to create less restricted air flow that directly travels through the heatsink. That also creates better air flow across your System RAM.

Then use plastic tie-wraps to ensure your cables don't hit the fan.

It also appears that you have only one memory module installed. If so, this will create a slight bottleneck as opposed to two, identical modules (see motherboard manual for which slots to use with two modules).

By RIGHT SIDE, you mean front side, right? Sorry I'm just a noob.

And, I don't think my case supports a fan in that place so I could get it in alignment with the rear fan. Is there any other way I can do that?

I would set it blowing out towards the rear exhaust personally.

Mine is blowing from right to left, so the hot air from the cpu is blown straight out the back of the case from the exhaust fan:

It's best to re-position (rotate) the CPU cooler such that it blows air towards the green exhaust fan.

So that the air warmed by the CPU can leave the case quickly and easily, instead of making your GPU warmer.

I tried positioning it in that way itself at first, but it couldn't be placed in that way(such that it blows air towards the green exhaust fan).
Which processor do you have?

It wasn't possible in that way.

And I thought that'll help in keeping my GPU cooler. :??:

Not really, it will be either blowing hot air on the GPU, or pulling hot air from the GPU into the heatsink (depending on how if the fan is pushing or pulling).

Why didnt it fit the other way?

edit: my spec is in my signature. i5 2500k @ 4.6Ghz.

When I place my hand it pretty much seems like it is blowing air towards my GPU. I installed the cooler around 6 months ago, fitting in the position(which you suggested) was my priority. But it didn't seem to work. Maybe it was because of that Gigabye thing between GPU and cooler (look at the pic).

The Gigabyte thing is probably a VRM heatsink. Usually it's not taller than a ram stick, and your picture shows the CPU cooler is able to go over the ram stick.

Anyway as far as the thread title is concerned, your GPU is fine and I don't think there is any other way to place it.

Even if you can't re-position the CPU cooler, everything will work fine. No need to worry about your parts overheating or melting.

Just curious, what is that long blue wire along the top of the case?

That blue wire is for the USB 3.0 slot in the front panel where I have a USB 2.0 and headphones and mic jacks. The person who configured it for the first time asked me to put one end in the USB 3.0 slot at the back-side, so that's where it is going.
