First off, I want to apologize for the wording of the title. It's exactly the reason behind the wording that I'm not sure how to find a solution, so if I failed a search because of that, I want to apologize again.

Recently, i connected my new desktop using a network adapter and realized that, when this computer (the one connected with the ethernet cable) is shut down, my network adapter disconnects. This doesn't happen with my phone or 3ds, but so far, even if this computer just goes into sleep mode I disconnect. It's been a pretty tiresome day for me, so if someone could help me out, I'd appreciate it.

The Network Adapter in question is the Netgear WNA1100 N150 wifi usb adapter.

Pardon me for the late reply. Work and such as you can guess. The problem is that the wifi adapter disconnects when the wired pc downstairs is turned off.

That sounds very strange!
How exactly is your network set up?
What kind of network hardware (modem, router, ap etc.) are you using and how are they connected?

It kind of sounds like your network goes through your PC...
