I have a CM Hyper 212+ CPU cooler and my CPU fan at the moment is blocking one of my RAM slots. I have Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB installed at the moment, and the fancy heatsinks that comes on those are quite tall.
There is not another possible way that I could think of orienting my CPU fan so that it will not block the RAM slot. So I was wondering if I switched my CPU fan to the other side of my CPU cooler, so instead of "pushing air" through the CPU cooler, it would just pull.
Do you guys think I would notice a significant temp increase? Or is it a bad idea? At the moment I idle at about, 20-25C. I usually never go above 40C even when gaming.
If you were wondering why I don't just flip the CPU fan on the other side and make it push air that way, that's because my case exhaust fan is right behind it so initially my configuration was to push and my exhaust fan acting as a "pull", but this method blocked my RAM slot.
I also cannot reorient my CPU heatsink so that it will be horizontally (long) because then the CPU heatsink will be the one blocking my RAM slot.
My only other option is to get a liquid cooling solution, but I have an AZZA Solano 1000 chassis, and preferably I wanted the Corsair H100i but i don't believe my case will fit the radiator without some modification of some sort. There is however the Corsair H80i, which might be ideal...
- If this helps I also have a 230mm exhaust fan at the top of my case also.
Any ideas? Thanks.
