New HDD compatible with My Old MOBO?
Dec 5, 2013, 11:40 PM
Is this HDD:
Western Digital BLACK 1TB SATA 6Gb/s(WD1003FZEX) compatible with my MOBO: MSI X58 Platinum SLI LGA 1366 Intel Motherboard??
The new HDD is 6Gb/s and the Old MOBO is SATAII 3Gb/s. Will this work?
Operating System: Vista Home Premium

Yes, a SATA III hard drive will work on a SATA II motherboard, but you'll only get SATA II performance.
All SATA hard drives are backwards compatible with older SATA specifications.
