If you`ll be using Adobe Premiere Pro (like me) the performance of your system will be on par with an i7 2600k - 3770k , somewhere in between.

For example with my system (see signature) a 1 hour long video timeline, all edited with 6 effects on color grading (Canon 5D Mark III footage) i get these times : DVD export ~25 minutes , BluRay export ~45 minutes.

Visual effects i don`t know, i don`t use After Effects too much, but this program will bring any CPU to it`s knees.

Gaming i play a lot of BF4 , 60+ fps average on Ultra with no AA active. In CS:GO everything maxed out including AA 90 - 200 fps depending on situation.

If you change your mind to go with Intel i wouldn`t chose anything below i7 4770k, it will cost you a lot more...

If you change your mind to go with Intel i wouldn`t chose anything below i7 4770k, it will cost you a lot more since the CPU alone is about double in price, but anything below this CPU is not worth the upgrade over the FX 8350 when talking about video editing.
