Hello everyone,

I have a MacBook pro, mid 2012, i5 core with 500GB 5200 RPM HDD. For some reason, everytime I get a new e-mail, my mail app freezes, which after a minute, I usually force-quit it, and re-start it, and it works fine. Why does it freeze, and what can I do to prevent it?

OTHER INFO: I have 3 emails hooked up with it. My school e-mail, my AOL and my gmail. About 190 messages total in the Inbox, 230 in sent and 5 in trash (I recently emptied it.)

Could you please inform us on what OSX version you are using? Press the little Apple on the top left corner and click about this Mac. First try selecting each mailbox and then selecting Mailbox on the top menu bar and select rebuild. If that doesn't work try repairing your disk using Disk Utility. Disk Utility>Select your HDD>bottom right Verify and Repair Disk.

Im running Mountain Lion.. So 10.8.5. Just tried the first option with the re-build. I'll give it a few days to see if it works better. If no, I'll give the Disk utility a go.
