Is my CPU underpowered?

My specs
480W Logisys PSU
EVGA GeForce 680i SLI mobo
Intel core 2 duo e8500 3.16Ghz CPU
8Gb DDR3 RAM (2Gb x 4)
Radeon R9 270 Gpu
Soundblaster Xfi sound card
USB 3.0 Molex powered card
1 500GB external HDD
1 100Gb molex powered HDDs
1 300Gb SATA powered hdd
1 SATA powered optical drive
1 120mm cooling fan
1 80mm cooling fan

So, my motherboard has an 8-pin CPU plugin on it, but my PSU only has a 4-pin CPU plug on it. The user manual of the 680i says that it strongly recommends an 8-pin plug, but if you only have a 4-pin it should be ok. My PSU also does not provide a 6-pin PCI-e plug on it so I have a 2x molex to 1 6-pin PCI-e plug hooked into my video card. The card along says that the minimum PSU required is 500W. So my question is with everything I have plugged in, the 480W PSU, only a 4-pin plugged into my 8-pin CPU plug, and two of my molex being used for one PCI-e cable to the video card, would my PC be significantly underpowered? And also, would a new PSU (say 600W) with an 8-pin CPU plug make my processor run better? Or does the 4-pin CPU plug make that much of a difference?

8pin cpu plug is important for more power hungry processors like amd FX 8xxx or intel 2011 cpus or older quads...
but your psu is low quality , cheap and generic unit so i suggest to replace it anyway...
running the video card thru molex adapter isn´t the best solution either...

if you are on a tight budget this is a good deal right now: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100b10500kr

I figured it was a pretty cheap supply. It came included in a $30 PC case... So I wasnt expecting much from it. I went ahead and ordered a CoolerMaster i600W with an 8 pin CPU and a 6 pin PCI-e as well as the molex and satas I need for my other components. So everything will have a plug straight off the supply. I should be receiving it tomorrow. Thank you guys for all the help!
