I've had this NETGEAR wireless adapter since July, and it's worked fine since then..

I've gone over possible introductions into my household that would've caused a disturbance in the wi-fi, but nothing new was introduced..
My current setup is a desktop, obviously without ethernet, two floors above the router. It's worked fine, as I said, since July, and this only started occurring last night.

I can't say without doubt that the adapter's at fault - it may be my computer. I did a side-by-side speedtest of my laptop and desktop, and my laptop passed the test [or rather, my requirements] (50mbp/s download) and the desktop failed miserably (1.67mbp/s download). So, it's either the computer or the adapter - and I haven't downloaded anything new, so my conclusion is that it's the adapter.

I don't know what's causing this, or how to fix it. Currently my only plausible solution is to obtain another wireless adapter, and so I ask, if nothing else can fix this, what is a great adapter to buy?

I've tried:
changing USB ports
restarting computer
disabling anti-virus
virus scan..

That's about it. Any help is extremely appreciated.

I would suggest two things:
1. Try uninstalling the adapter and re-installing it with the latest driver you can find.
2. Try placing the adapter on a usb hub or extension cable so that it is in a clear area with no obstacles, like on top of your desk.

If those don't do it you should maybe think of looking at a new one. :(

Hey, installing the latest drivers actually worked.
Thanks!
