Some brand name companies use a mass license to duplicate the HDDs in their machines and then they affix an OEM license on the outside of the computer, but that license key does not match the key that was initially installed on the HDD.

IMO this is a total fubar, simply because a reinstall of said machine has to be completed from the HDDs hidden partition, and the consumer is never actually provided with an official operating system installation disk that matches the Microsoft product key license on the machine itself.

I ran into this with my aunts Lenovo desktop PC running Win7.
