I have been using this motherboard since 2010 with no issues. Recently I upgraded my GPU's to Evga GTX 780's in SLI from Evga GTX 580's in SLI. My PSU is a Corsair ATX 1200. I can run both the 780's in the 1st and 3rd pci slot but they are right next to one another and the top card is running 15 degrees hotter under a load while gaming. With the PC off I moved the bottom 780 to the last pci slot and when I inserted it into the mb my pc would turn for a fraction of a second by itself and turn off. Pressing the power on the pc did nothing. I unplugged the power supply and plugged it back in and when I pressed the power button it would attempt to start and shut back down. Both GPU's work in SLI but only in the 1st and 3rd PCI slots. Any ideas why the last slot is giving me issues?

That's odd... but those are not the recommended slots for SLI or CF. Your manual states that they should be in PCIEX16_1 and 2. You have reduced your bandwidth to half by using one of the PCIEX8 slots. See notes at bottom: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3449#sp

Do you happen to have any other cards in any of the other PCIe slots?
Btw, it is not unusual for the top card to be warmer than the bottom card normally. The 2nd card will only operate when the game is SLI aware and is using SLI. My 2 x GTX 660s always run hotter with the top card. But not at unsafe temps. Were your temps unsafe?

Out of curiosity, you must be using an extra long SLI bridge to reach between cards, yes?
