i3 or core 2 quad as an upgrade help !!

well the thing is what is better an old high end cpu as core 2 quad 9550
or an i3 cpu like the 530 (i know it's old but that's what i got my hands on for now)
most of you will say get the i5 but am on a budget :/
i got a gtx 560 ti 1gb
and core 2 due e7300
i play games like crysis 3
bf4 (or want to play)

If your current board will take a 9550 and you can get one cheap, do it. It is better than nehalem i3's in almost everything. If you cant get or use a 9550, a Q6600 is still better than an i3 530 but its close.
The q6600 can be found for £30.

This is my street. The older i3 's are very similar in performance to socket 775 quads. Later i3's are better.
I would go with whichever I had the most parts for already. I will edit this in a bit after some checks.
