Hi guys!

So I have an Acer Aspire 5634 Wlmi with the following specs:
• Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 667MHz FSB)
• 2GB PC4200 DD2-SDRAM
• 120GB 5400rpm Seagate HDD
• Nvidia GeForce Go 7300

I want to update it. I don’t want to buy a new computer yet.

So my question would be:
1- win in 7 or 8? From the infos I got Win7 seems to be fine for me. I ran the compatibility check and there seem to be fewer problems with 7 than with 8 .

I just wonder which one will be faster? On XP my system runs fast enough. But if the new OS will slow down my computer a lot, I have to rethink my strategy, I hate slow PCs (I am talking about going on the internet, using word and excel)

2- 32 or 64bit? I understand I have the MINIMUM Ram for 64bit and my CPU is OK for it.. But what will be faster? Again that’s my main concern . Though I heard 64 is more secure. That would be a good point.

thank you very much :)

Windows 8 loads and shuts down faster than 7, but there is no speed difference during use.
Either of them will feel slower than a fresh XP install, but if you havent run Ccleaner on your laptop for years, you might want to try that before you upgrade.

Hey guys thank your for your answers. XP is being discontinued, no more security updates so I dont want to stick with it. That idea with the SSD drive, I had it too:) but i dont want to invest in a computer thats not going to live so much anymore:) so I' ll buy a ssd laptop when this one dies

I am going to try win7 if it doesnt work i install xp again...lots of work, but compability win 7 tool said there wouldnt be so much problems:)
