My Toshiba 2TB drive failed on me yesterday, well the USB port did. I cracked open the case and put the drive in my PC and copied across all the data onto my 4TB segate drive.
Worked fine, turned the PC off, than later that night plugged the 4TB drive into my laptop and now every time I plug either the 4TB or my other 500GB 2.5" drive into either of my laptops I get 3 quick weird beeps and windows cannot detect the device and the lights on the case are not on. How can you try troubleshoot this?

Also is there another external case I can use for my old toshiba drive? I have it hooked up to my PC now so I can use it, but I wanted to see if I could put it in another external case and use it like a normal external drive.

Thanks!

Thanks. I cant RMA it as I ripped the drive out of the case so I could copy all my data back. Wouldn't want to either this is the 3rd time this has happened with the drive, last two times I just took it back and they replaced it. Was really strange my 2TB, 4TB, and even all my flash drives were not being picked up by either my laptops last night. So I plugged them into my desktop and they worked fine, so I tried the laptops again and they still didn't work. They seem to work now which is really strange. Even last night it was not letting me copy and paste my folders, every time i selected paste nothing would happen. So I tried to drag and drop and same thing nothing happened.
